Dr. McKinnon considers anyone who participates in physical activity an athlete and has had the opportunity to work with those of all age groups and calibers. Including professional hockey players, boxers, collegiate athletes, weekend warriors, and especially enjoys working with school-aged athletes. Before deciding to pursue chiropractic, Dr. McKinnon worked as a fitness trainer with River Valley Health in Edmonton, a multidisciplinary clinic that focused on the treatment and training of athletes. Her time at RVH inspired her to continue her education and learn as much as she could about treating and optimizing the human body and its athletic potential with chiropractic.
Dr. Jillian McKinnon grew up on a farm near Macklin, Saskatchewan playing sports such as hockey, volleyball, and badminton. She then moved to Edmonton and completed her Physical Education degree in Sports Performance at the University of Alberta. Dr. McKinnon went on to complete her doctorate at the University of Western States in Portland, Oregon before moving back to Edmonton to begin practicing here at Redefined Health.
She is certified in upper & lower extremity ART and has a passion for exercise rehab as optimal movement patterns are key to improving both injuries and overall performance. Recently, she completed her Strong First Kettlebell Certification and is more than happy to offer her training services whether it be program design, one-on-one training, or a series of sessions. Dr. McKinnon is also currently completing a diploma with the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association and is Webster Technique certified (ideal for pregnant women).
When she’s not working, Dr. McKinnon loves going back to Saskatchewan to be at the lake with family to enjoy boating in the summer and pond-hockey in the winter.
