Even at body weight, an overhead squat is a challenging exercise. It is a good screen for hip and shoulder mobility as well as ability to stabilize the entire core. Our video model has some shoulder mobility issues, and compensates with increased back extension. This is a common pattern, as is the inability to accomplish the movement due to hip mobility issues. This can be a great training exercise to work on functional mobility in your hips and shoulders as it moves them to the limits of their range, while challenging stability at the same time.
