Three Pillars of Treatment

All living things are driven by an innate intelligence which is responsible for organizing, healing, and maintaining normal conditions. If this intelligence is interrupted, the development of injury and illness occurs. Because the body is one, whole interconnected system, we focus on the three pillars of health—Motion, Nutrition and Control.

Motion: We work on restoring as close to ideal movement to the tissue as possible. Specific areas of immobility are difficult to improve on with self directed mobility and rehab alone. This is where practitioner directed care is essential. This is wear tools like Chiropractic Adjustments/Joint Manipulation, Graston, ART, Massage, and Acupuncture can play rolls.

Nutrition: Without the building blocks to build new healthy tissues it is impossible to heal. There are a few extremely common nutritional deficiencies that are relatively easy to address. This is an area that can be complex as well, but starting with some simple improvements can make a huge difference. These changes will be essentially the same for most treatment plans as the basic nutrient requirements are generally the same for all tissue healing.

Control: There can be no sustained mobility improvement without control. Joints do not move themselves and muscles don’t control themselves. Rehabilitating proper movement patterns and strength is essential to maintaining any motion improvements as well as restoring optimal function and performance.

Active Release

The Active Release Technique (ART) is a non-invasive treatment that's designed to quickly reduce soft tissue and nerve pain and restore function. It effectively treats injuries and damage to muscles, tendons and ligaments and has been used for over 30 years in Canada. Whether you have a complex injury or only a minor sprain, ART helps you return to day-to-day activities faster and more effectively than conventional methods.

Chiropractic Adjustments

Chiropractic is based on the belief that when your body is in proper alignment, it rebuilds itself as a total unit as opposed to piece by piece. It' utilizes the inherent recuperative power of the body to heal itself without the use of drugs or surgery.

People see chiropractors for various reasons, including restoring function and range of motion, returning to normal daily activities as quickly as possible, increased strength and flexibility, posture correction and pain relief.

Nutrition

A healthy diet and nutrition program is essential in order to build and maintain a high functioning body. Most often, we consider health on the basis of weight; however, the benefits of a healthy lifestyle go far beyond maintenance of an optimal weight. Good nutrition can help build strong and resilient tissue, improve immunity, increase energy levels and reduce the risk of disease and illness.

Exercise

Establishing a clear exercise schedule is proven to improve your health and reduce the risk of developing many chronic conditions such as diabetes, cancer and heart disease. Physical activity not only improves the quality of your life, but the duration of your life as well. As you exercise, you are delivering oxygen and nutrients to your tissues to help with regeneration and immunity, leading to a longer and more energetic life.

IASTM - Graston Technique

The Graston Technique is an instrument-assisted mobilization therapy similar to the Active Release Technique. Goals of this therapy are to break down scar tissue and fascia restrictions to rearrange the injured soft tissue. This creates a better healing environment for the soft tissue. The Graston technique has been known to decrease treatment time, foster more efficient recovery, decrease need for anti-inflammatory medication and resolve chronic conditions.

Massage

Massage is often used for relaxation or to increase general well-being. It can also be used to address a specific area of the body that is experiencing pain or a limited range of motion. Because massage therapy induces a relaxation response, it can lower heart rate, respiratory rate and blood pressure, effectively decreasing the physical effects of stress.

Acupuncture

During an acupuncture treatment, thin needles are inserted into very specific spots on the body to treat pain. This technique is used to balance the flow of energy throughout the body. By stimulating specific points (pressure points) within the body, acupuncture stimulates the body’s natural healing response and the central nervous system. This process releases chemicals into the muscles, spinal cord and brain in order to promote physical and emotional well-being.
